Boston. Loui Eriksson is an excellent player and people in the East are going to learn that very quickly.

It's hard to call it until we see what Seguin can do with top line minutes for a whole season. As of today Eriksson is the better player but Seguin probably has a much higher ceiling. My prediction is that Dallas won but who really knows.

I suspect Boston got the best value which is what they were after. Loui is cheaper and similar offensive output. He's got a few years under his belt, and he's good. Really good. If I believe the recent reports about Seguin's behaviour, Loui is also perhaps a better fit for a more mature dressing room?

Dallas is getting back a younger player with a really high ceiling and the pedigree of having been brought up on a championship-quality team. If you believe the team who got the best player wins, then Dallas will probably win. He's going to figure it out, but Boston likely didn't want to pay a bunch of money waiting for that to happen.

In the end both teams will likely be happy with their star.
I've heard good things about Reilly Smith, Matt Fraser and Joe Morrow but I don't know enough about them to be able to say how they project. I guess those are going to be the guys who decide who won the trade in the future.
I'm guessing they'll be better than Peverly and Button.

Im curious to see if Erikson can play Boston's style. I think Seguin will do well in Dallas but who is he playing with? Dallas seems to have a lot of Centres.

Where's the negativity for Chiarelli on trading a 21-year old "keeper" that has a new 6-year, 5.7mil per contract kicking in? Sign a kid for long-term, then flip him like it's nothing? Sounds familiar...

Where does this leave the B's cap wise? Does it open the door for a run at Clarkson?

@BetterCallSaul I agree with exception of this season Eriksson had 3 straight consecutive 70 plus point seasons. Boston received a really good underrated player in Erikkson plus a top (D) prospect in Joe Morrow. Don't like Boston but good trade for them.

Like the Leafs/Boston deal...we should judge this in 5 years. Seguin is still going to be really good. Guess people are forgetting that's 22 years old.

Eriksson is an elite two-way player that has consistently scored at a near-PPG pace. Id say he is better by a good deal right now.

Gotta give this one to Boston. They replaced Horton and got 3 quality prospects while shedding about 5mill in cap. They sacrificed scoring and C depth, but they had enough to spare.

Boston. They get slight cap relief, they get a top 6 winger and Joe Morrow. Loui Eriksson is a great player.

Easily Dallas. I mean Boston fans were saying Seguin is the 2nd coming of Crosby. So you traded Crosby version 2 for Erikson. lol In all seriousness, Erikson is a good player but not elite. And this is not the kings ransom Chirelli was talking about was he? I think Boston should have got a first for Seguin in any deal. Fact of the matter is, Kessel is better than Seguin and Erikson. Leafs win that trade.

Could have just kept an elite sniper like Kessel. Kessel is better than Erikson.

Dallas is thin at Center, Benn's natural position is wing, this move should get him back there.

Dallas two top centers would have been Benn and Eakins, now you'll have Seguin as the top with Peverly and Eakins as your top 3.

I hate to give up Lou but this is a good trade for both teams. As one other pointed out it will be interesting to see Lou play Boston hockey, he's a good two way player but not physical at all.

The question is, will Boston chant "Thank you Tyler" when the Stars play the Bruins.
